Edited by Fr Brocard Sewell; introduction by Ronald Duncan. Photographs; pp. xvii, 165, hardback, Tabb House, 1980

This collection of essays is the first (and so far only) book to discuss Henry Williamson's work in their totality. It provides useful insights for both the general reader and to students of English literature. Also included are biographical contributions by some of Williamson's close friends, who do not shirk the more controversial aspects of his career. Of particular importance is the moving Memorial Address, given by Ted Hughes at Henry Williamson's memorial service – 'I believe [Williamson] was one of the two or three truest poets of his generation [. . .] in those early books about wild life, he created a real poetic mythology.'
