Serialisation

The Patriot’s Progress was serialised in the Evening Standard in eighteen parts between 8 and 28 November 1930, for which HW received £225. It created a huge amount of attention. The Standard advertised it in advance, of course :

The day it began the serial was given a trailer by the Daily Express (both newspapers were owned by Lord Beaverbrook). At that time the Express claimed ten million readers.

The Evening Standard created its own daily headline, which gave the text an added momentum. We are not reproducing the entire serial here (read the book!), but the headlines and the way that the Standard presented the serial are of great interest.
