The Henry Williamson Society - Proposed Midland Branch |

December 2001 Dear Fellow Member, At the North Devon meeting, I suggested to Margaret Murphy that it might be a worthwhile exercise to arrange a Regional Meeting of the HW Society in the Midlands, and I stated that I would be happy to arrange this, broadly in my present home area 6 miles West of Stafford. I am writing to ask if you might, in principle, be interested in supporting this venture. If there are a sufficient number ‑ and I do not feel that a large group is essential for an enjoyable Regional Meeting ‑ then I would be happy to arrange the event. I am thinking in terms of members residing in Staffs, Derbys., Cheshire, Shropshire, Warwicks, Gloucester, Hereford and the Welsh Borders. Such Members would be residing within an hour to an hour and a half from the Stafford area. It can be borne in mind that the Motorway network generally places many Members within a fairly wide compass. If you could let Margaret know of your feelings in this matter, she and I will liaise and I can make local arrangements and produce directions for individuals who wish to attend. Local accommodation for the day is very straightforward and there are several pubs for lunch in the district generally. I do hope that the idea appeals and I hope to hear from Margaret that there are a few folks interested. With kind regards to all Yours sincerely Peter Gillard |
